The first ever golf tournament of the Challenge Tour series in Slovakia will take place from 10 to 13 July at Penati Golf Resort. The players will split prize money of 160 thousand euros between them. At the NICKLAUS DESIGN LEGEND COURSE at the start of the month an inspection by the organising team took place under the leadership of Gary Butler, the English director of D+D REAL Slovakia Challenge authorised by the European Challenge Tour organisation. It's noteworthy that this year Butler will already be directing the tournament in the Czech Republic for the third year at Kunĕtická Hora, and he will also be the head referee at the Czech Masters tournament at Albatross in Prague.

"We started the session at eight in the morning and we finished it at ten at night. The slight adjustments on the course required by Penati Golf Resort have already been implemented in the autumn. There is still one more change to be made at the tenth hole. A gap between the putting green and the edge of the course has to be filled in with sand so that the balls roll into the water and don't stop," explains David Trunda, sports director of the promotion company RELMOST.

The inspection covered everything - from checking the courses, through the driving changes, to how things work at the Club House. Modifications will still be made to the driving range. It is too short for the needs of the Challenge Tour, so the tees will be moved and a new net will be fitted at the end. A little village will be created on the premises for viewers and sponsors with an interactive schedule. Viewers will be in contact with players when leaving the course, as well as at the Club House, which will continue to be accessible to members during the Challenge Tour. It was a challenge figuring out where to place the results board. In the end it will be in the spectators' village in close proximity to the Club House.

Many players with experience from the European Tour and even from the PGA Tour will come to the historic first tournament of the Challenge Tour series in Slovakia. The stars will include the following: the South African James Kingston, winner of two European Tour tournaments and holder of 11 titles of the Sunshine Tour, the Englishman Kenneth Ferrie, holder of three trophies from the European Tour, the Welshman Rhys Davies, winner of the Hassan II Trophy in Morocco in 2010, the South African Tjaart van der Walt, who played on the PGA Tour for three years, in 2005 his title was taken away at the Buick Championship in a play-off by Brad Faxon, and many others.

Two accompanying tournaments will take place. The first will be on Thursday 10 July at the eighteen-hole HERITAGE COURSE and on Monday 14 July at the LEGEND COURSE tournament course. The usual Pro-Am will take place on Wednesday 9 July at the LEGEND COURSE.
